Cities In Transition Initiative (CITI)
The Cities In Transition Initiative (CITI) is a multi-state, multi-city network formed to help similarly-situated communities address issues related to mass population loss in a collaborative way. Comprised of local elected officials, practitioners, civic leaders, and planners, CITI is focused on moving state and federal policy that ultimately will benefit our cities, as well as providing a welcome opportunity for the exchange of ideas and practices to enrich our understanding for how to shape a new future for our cities.
The goals of this new network are to:
- solicit feedback, advice, and fresh ideas on issues facing our cities
- provide a forum for an exchange of ideas and practices
- foster common understanding about the challenges our cities face
- elicit constructive criticism of current practices and policies so as to create the best possible federal, state, and local policy recommendations to meet our cities’ specific needs
- create a clearinghouse for sharing best practices that could be packaged for easy adaptation to local circumstances
With this webpage, we hope to provide a venue for an on-going dialogue about the needs of our cities and potential fixes, so please continue to check back for more information.
