Youngstown Model Project
In partnership with the Raymond John Wean Foundation, Greater Ohio is currently working on a project in Youngstown where we are talking with leaders of local institutions and organizations about establishing an umbrella group that will comprehensively coordinate economic and community development activities in Downtown Youngstown. As part of this work, we are researching and talking with similar organizations around the state and beyond to learn and build on best practices elsewhere. As a result, Greater Ohio will provide a “blueprint” that enables Youngstown leaders and stakeholders to successfully develop the organization. We also intend for the “blueprint” to be broad enough that other Ohio cities can use it as a model as they too address significant population loss, proliferation of vacant properties, and related physical infrastructure changes.
We will issue our final report in March 2011. Please continue to check back with us for more information on this model project.
