Ahead of Transportation Budget, GOPC Releases Funding Recommendations

In early February 2023, the Ohio General Assembly will begin writing the next state transportation budget. This legislation sets transportation infrastructure investments for the next two years.

To continue enhancing the safety of Ohio’s roadways for all users, GOPC will be advocating for two critically important programs:

  • Invest at least $75 million per year in public transportation, which would maintain the same level of state funding set in the transportation budget two years ago.

  • Invest $5 million per year in state funds in Safe Routes to School, the leading program in Ohio that builds sidewalks, bike lanes, and traffic calming interventions. These funds will provide a dollar-for-dollar match to the federal Safe Routes to School funds Ohio will receive.
