Scenario Planning For Legacy Cities: A Case Study In Lakewood, Ohio

Join the Consortium for Scenario Planning on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 for a free hour-long virtual event covering the recent exploratory scenario planning workshop on housing affordability in Lakewood, Ohio.

Workshop co-conveners from the Greater Ohio Policy Center and the City of Lakewood, and Professor Arnab Chakraborty, Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Utah, will lead a discussion and Q&A on using scenario planning to explore growth and housing challenges in legacy cities like Lakewood. AICP CM credits are available for this session.

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Policy Summit 2023: Communities Thriving in a Changing Economy

Join the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in person or virtually for the 16th Policy Summit, where you can learn from more than 40 expert speakers during outside-the-beltway conversations about policies and programs affecting lower-income communities across the United States.

The Summit is valuable for community-focused practitioners, policymakers, elected officials, researchers, funders, bankers, and students. Attendees will get the opportunity to

  • Discuss timely topics that affect low- to moderate-income individuals and underserved communities.

  • Access research and best practices related to workforce and economic development, small businesses, and other topics key to racial and economic inclusion.

  • Learn how to design and implement strategies for impact.

  • Build new and strengthen existing relationships.

The Summit will take place Wednesday, June 21 through Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown. Registration closes on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Don’t miss out on access to 1 keynote, 4 plenary sessions, 12 breakout sessions, and networking opportunities. The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland are partnering with a number of other Federal Reserve Banks for this year’s Policy Summit and want you there in person. People from 25 states are already registered.

Philanthropy Ohio Webinar: Giving Tools to Extend Philanthropy’s Impact

GOPC Executive Director Alison Goebel joins a panel of experts discussing ways to extend the power of grants through investment tools. The program will focus on capacity building, finance, and grant making. The webinar takes place on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Registration is exclusive to members of Philanthropy Ohio.

Reinvention Cities of Ohio Roundtable: Mansfield, Ohio

The Reinvention Cities Network (RCN) is excited to join together in-person for the August Roundtable - hosted in the City of Mansfield! There will not be a virtual option provided for this roundtable, as we encourage you to join us in-person for opportunities to learn, engage, and see first-hand the revitalization work underway in Mansfield. Join GOPC and the RCN on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023
in Mansfield, Ohio from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Lunch will be provided. Following lunch, community leaders will host participants on a brief tour of Mansfield. Additional details, including an agenda for the day, will be provided closer to the Roundtable.

Coming Soon: Preparing a Successful Bid for State Capital Budget Dollars Webinar

Greater Ohio Policy Center will once again be hosting a webinar providing communities with a “101 on the Capital Budget”, and examples of small communities utilizing capital budget dollars for thoughtfully-planned projects, including their planning steps and process to secure state funds for project assistance. Check back soon for more details as the state prepares for another Capital Budget in 2024.
