Affordable Housing Learning Exchange Members Urge Swift Passage of 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act

Dear Ohio Congressional Leaders,

The Affordable Housing Learning Exchange, a group of affordable housing advocates from Cuyahoga, Franklin, Hamilton, Hancock, and Lucas Counties and statewide organizations, writes to urge support for and passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. This legislation will modernize and streamline regulatory systems while expanding access to safe, attainable housing across the country.

In Ohio, our membership works together, sharing resources and ideas on local solutions that preserve, produce, and expand affordable housing options in our regions. Exchange members include local and statewide leaders from community development financial intermediaries, metropolitan housing authorities, land banks, technical assistance providers, advocates, and affordable housing developers.

We see the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act as an invaluable tool that can address the issues we see every day in our communities across the state: an inelastic and overheated housing market straining to keep up with the pace of growth and need. Housing affordability – and the strong quality of life it brings – has always been Ohio's competitive advantage, but this is increasingly at risk if we cannot gain control of rapidly rising housing costs or sufficiently protect and build to meet the need that exists.

We strongly encourage the House and Senate to come together and give swift agreement and passage to the legislation, continuing the strong, bipartisan collaboration that has hallmarked this effort thus far.

Sincerely,
