GOPC collaborates with national partners on Ohio State Resource Network

The Greater Ohio Policy Center is excited to announce that it is partnering with the National Resource Network, Arnold Ventures, and the Just Transition Fund to create the Ohio State Resource Network (OSRN).

The OSRN will provide nationally-renowned expertise to economically distressed communities in Ohio. OSRN partners will help local governments build capacity, develop a plan for multi-year fiscal sustainability, and provide guidance on how best to fulfill community priorities that improve quality of life and local economic competitiveness.

The National Resource Network has successfully worked with 60 municipalities in 22 states since 2013; Cleveland Heights received support in 2017 and is effectively repositioning an under-utilized shopping mall as a result of the Network’s advising.

GOPC has worked for the last year to bring the National Resource Network to Ohio because we know more local leaders desire this type of support and are ready to take action to make their communities vibrant and fiscally sustainable.

There are no population size restrictions for this program. However, applying municipalities, townships, or counties must have experienced population decline of 2% from 2010 to 2017, a poverty rate of 20%+, and/or an annual average unemployment rate of 6.5%.
