The Ohio General Assembly was able to come together and pass the state transportation budget after reaching agreement on record funding for public transportation and an increase in both the state motor fuel and diesel taxes.
Governor Mike DeWine formally presented his budget recommendation to the Ohio legislature outlining his proposal for the state transportation budget. In addition to proposing to increase revenue for highway infrastructure, the budget proposal also includes a recommended increase in the amount of funding public transportation receives in the transportation budget.
Investments and improvements to our state’s transportation system have been a priority for GOPC since our founding. We want to draw the attention of this committee to one of the more underutilized methods that we have at our disposal to alleviating congestion and reducing the damage inflicted upon our roadways – public transportation.
