Primary Election Day in Ohio. Vote!

Today is Primary Election Day throughout Ohio, when voters will asked to vote for candidates who, if victorious, will continue their campaigns for public office and appear on the 2026 General Election Ballot on November 3.

While primary elections are generally partisan affairs, choosing the nominees of Ohio’s major (and this year minor) political parties, this election will also feature a number of important non-partisan ballot issues which could impact your community.

Among the offices up for election this year are:

Because this election is a primary, you will be asked what ballot you wish to vote. You may select the following options:

  • Democratic Party

  • Libertarian Party

  • Republican Party

  • Non-Partisan*

    • *Only if there are local options on the ballot in which all voters, including registered non-party voters have the right to participate in. If there are no local ballot issues, you will not be issued a ballot.

Note: When you ask for a Democratic, Republican, or Libertarian Party ballot, you will officially be registered as a member of that party until the next primary election.

Polls will be open from 6:30am until 7:30 pm. If you are in line to vote when the polls close, you will still be permitted to wait and cast your ballot. Ohio law requires everyone who votes to already be registered, and to have an ID when you arrive at the polls.
